Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon Celebrates iHeritage Success in Palermo

The European Union-funded iHeritage project marked its achievements in a final conference in Palermo, Italy. Hosted by the Sicilian Region Department of Tourism, the event brought together partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt.

Key highlights included a keynote by Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Chamber, emphasizing the Chamber’s efficient execution of tasks and plans to expand its impact to other UNESCO sites in Lebanon.

Hana Nehme, Director of Projects, highlighted the iheritage milestones in Lebanon such as scientific researches, co-publications, trainings, mapping of 50 intangible heritage elements, and the many VR/AR developed applications. The 9 Lebanese subgrantee projects, were showcased by Dory Abou Saab, IT & communication Manager while Developer Kabalan Samaha from cre8mania showcased the Archeogame in Byblos castle and the “tales from sky” video mapping show projected in old port of Byblos.

Dr. Marcel Hinain, Vice President of AUT, discussed the historical importance of Byblos throughout various eras. The conference spanned two days and included the final steering committee meeting, as well a visit to university of Palermo holographics exhibition.
